UP civic polls phase III 2017: Voting halted in few districts due to EVM malfunction

The third and the final phase of the Uttar Pradesh urban local body polls in 26 districts of the state witnessed a voter turnout of 53 per cent even as there were some complaints of voters' names being missing and malfunctioning of electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Re-polling currently underway in one booth in Balaganj area of Lucknow Nagar Nigam

In the first hour, nearly five per cent voters exercised their franchise at 10,810 polling booths, say reports.

Due to the malfunctioning of EVMs at several booths in Muradabad, Saharanpur and Jhansi, the voting process has been halted

As per the State Election Commission, the following districts vote today:

Saharanpur, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Moradabad, Sambhal, Etah, Firozabad, Kannauj, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Jhansi, Mahoba, Fatehpur, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Khiri, Barabanki, Balrampur, Siddharthanagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Mau, Chandauli, Jaunpur and Mirzapur.

Voting began at 8 am across 26 districts of Uttar Pradesh. It will continue till 5 pm
