Many passengers remain stranded in Mumbai; IMD predicts heavy rain till August 8

Thousands of passengers continued to remain stranded in Maharashtra's Mumbai and adjoining areas after number of long distance trains got cancelled or rescheduled or diverted following two days of excessive rainfall and waterlogging in the state.

    The India Meteorological Department (MeT) has forcast that Maharashtra will continue to experience incessent rainfall till the middle of this week, with "heavy to extremely heavy rain" predicted in Pune, parts of  Vidarbha and Konkan till August 8.

    Several passengers were stranded at Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus railway station after 12 trains were cancelled, and many others were shortly-terminated, diverted, or rescheduled, following heavy rains in the city. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) distributed refreshment packages to the stranded passengers.
