"Let us all together stop the party and government from going into the hands of a single family again. Let us form a people's government again in sync with the aspirations of people and till then this struggle will continue."
"Till such time Puratchi Thalaivi Amma's regime is restored, our struggle (Dharma Yudh) will continue," he says.
We will not let the party (AIADMK) go into the hands of few of Sasikala's family members: O Panneerselvam
AIADMK leader and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai says this is people's victory, "we will carry forward Amma's legacy in the coming days." He adds that there are no factions in AIADMK. "Only O Panneerselvam is apart and his question shouldn't arise because he isn't a party member." All 134 MLAs are with us, concludes Thambidurai.
A senior leader says the AIADMK camp led by Panneerselvam is hoping to receive a sizeable number of legislators today. Preferring anonymity, the leader tells news agency IANS that the Governor may not invite Public Works Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to form the government in the state till everything seems to be clear. "With Deepa Jayakumar joining hands with Panneerselvam, the strength of our camp has increased manifold and there is no patch up moves," he adds.
Earlier on Wednesday, AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala, held guilty for corruption, returned to the Bengaluru jail. Sasikala, 59, was sent to a women's cell in the Central Jail soon after she reached Bengaluru in a convoy of cars from Chennai after her plea for more time to surrender was rejected by the Supreme Court.
Sasikala expected to make candles in jail, has to share her cell, will get normal food
The Tamil Nadu Governor yesterday met Palaniswami, who claimed the support of 124 state legislators or MLAs, and acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who said he has the support of 11 MLAs. Both the leaders wanted to take a trust vote in the legislature and presented the Governor with a list of legislators supporting them.
