The Prime Minister said that the Jal Jeevan Mission has been empowering women of the country by saving their time and efforts
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the Jal Jeevan Mission mobile application which aims to improve awareness among stakeholders and for greater transparency and accountability of schemes under the initiative. The Prime Minister said that the Jal Jeevan Mission has been empowering women of the country by saving their time and efforts which was earlier consumed in covering long distances to fetch drinking water.
"Piped water reached 3 cr homes till 2019, since Jal Jeevan Mission launch, 5 crore houses given connection. More done in 2 years than in 70 years," PM Modi said.
Earlier in the day, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his noble principles give strength to millions. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, "I bow to respected Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. His noble principles are globally relevant and give strength to millions."
PM Modi also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. He said that Shastri's life which was based on values and principles will always remain a source of inspiration for the countrymen.

Delhi: On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajghat to pay tributes to the 'Father of the Nation'. Later in the day, PM Modi will launch the Jal Jeevan Mission App and interact with Gram Panchayats and Pani Samitis/ Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC) on Jal Jeevan Mission via video conferencing.
