Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, who passed away on Monday night after battling for her life at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai for nearly 75 days, was laid to rest with full state honours at Chennai's Marina Beach on Tuesday. Former Tamil Nadu CM and AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa was buried next to her mentor MGR at Chennai's Marina Beach in a tearful ceremony that was witnessed by millions of her ardent supporters.
The casket is being lowered into the spot of burial.
Jayalalithaa's casket is being sealed. The 21-gun salute has begun.
The sandalwood casket is being closed. Jayalalithaa is being laid to rest finally.
Her close aide Sasikala is now performing her last rites before she is buried.
The Tricolour that was draped around the body is now being removed before the body is lowered down into the earth. A priest is now moving towards her body.
