India fielded youngsters, that's acceptable ahead of the South Africa tour, but the performance was just too bad. These players have let the faith of the selectors down, but it's early to say that. The Indians still have time, and will hopefully come back in the next match, and show us their mettle.
Sri Lanka drubbed India after 12 matches, and you can simply put it as "Sri Lanka's 13." With 176 balls and an entire sunset left, The Rohit Sharma-led Indian contingent learned a Lankan lesson. This is seriously something for Ravi Shastri and co. to ponder upon before leaving for the South Africa Tour.
Other than Dhoni's masterclass, the Indians don't have anything to boast about.

Target 113
This was a complete drubbing. With 176 balls and an entire sunset left, Sri Lanka finally beat India after 12 matches. A complete drubbing.
India had a chance to climb up to the pole position in the ICC ODI Rankings, if they would have won this series 3-0. But then, it has slipped away from their hands.
This has been a morale boosting victory for Sri Lanka, meanwhile this dismal performance is something for Ravi Shastri and co to ponder upon.

Bhuvi to Thiramanne. THAT'S OUT!!! What a bowl!!
Not good by Thiramanne. The delivery got him cramped up, which led to an inside edge which crashed into the stumps.

What a ball by Bumrah. He gets Gunathilaka out, caught by Dhoni. Lankan opener exposes his stumps and backs away, but Bumrah's delivery kept its line and found a fine nick. Dhoni, behind the wickets, completed the send off.
Wicket: Gunathilaka c Dhoni b Bumrah 1(11)
Lahiru Thirimanne, Sri Lanka's left-handed batsman comes to the crease.
What a first half in Dharamshala. Rohit Sharma thought it was a good toss to lose, but as things stand now, it sure was something else. India are 112 all out.
MS Dhoni tried to resurrect the innings, but with India's top five contributing 13 runs, it was never going to be easy. But the former captain did his part, and gave bowlers something to bowl for.
His 65 of 87 was laced with 10 fours and two sixes. India's second highest scorer was Kuldeep Yadav, the number 9, with 19 runs.
For Lanka, Suranga Lakmal was brilliant again. 10-4-13-4. He was supported by Angelo Mathews (5-2-8-1).
Over 37 || Score 108/9 (MS Dhoni 61; Yuzvendra Chahal 0)
Something for Indian bowlers to bowl for, thanks to MS Dhoni masterclass. The former India captain brings up his 67th ODI fifty with a four in the 36th over. 22 runs from the last two overs as India move past 100.

Introduction of spin works for Sri Lanka. Akila Dananjaya removes Kuldeep Yadav, thanks to a brilliant Niroshan Dickwella stumping.

Jasprit Bumrah is the new man for India. What will MS Dhoni do now?
Over 19 || Score 29/7 (MS Dhoni 2; Kuldeev Yadav 0)
What a spell for Suranga Lakmal, 10-4-13-4. The spell ends with a maiden over to Kuldeep Yadav, who's doing just fine considering how other Indian batsmen have succumbed to a disciplined bowling.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is denying singles to Yadav. He's hoping to extend India's innings as long as possible.
Over 17 || Score 28/7 (MS Dhoni 2; Kuldeev Yadav 0)
What a spell from Suranga Lakmal. Gets his fourth scalp with a beauty of a delivery, forcing Bhuvneshwar Kumar to play the moving delivery, and caught behind.

India are in big, big trouble. Last of batting hopes, Hardik Pandya too gone. He fails to withdraw the bat against a swinging delivery, and ends up getting a fine nick. Angelo Mathews takes a clean catch at first slip.
Wicket: Hardik Pandya c Mathews b Pradeep 10 (10)
That happened off the second ball of the over. Nuwan Pradeep then almost sends back newly married Bhuvneshwar Kumar back. Lankans take the review and it hit the top of the bail, and it's declared umpire's call, which was a not out.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Hardik Pandya are in the centre. Pandya gets lucky, finds a thick edge to beat the third man, and India get their boundary of the innings. First one was hit by Iyer.
Over 10 || Score 11/3 (Shreyas Iyer 6; Manish Pandey 1)
Well, India are in real trouble. Dinesh Karthik departs. Trapped in front by Suranga Lakmal. Karthik consults his partner Shreyas Iyer, and takes some time, exceeding the 15 sec limit. It turns out a good call not to review it.
Wicket: Karthik lbw b Lakmal 0 (18)
That happened off the fifth ball of the ninth over. And Manish Pandey is the new man for India. India sure missing their regular captain Virat Kohli.
Lanka have so far bowled five maidens in the ten overs – three for Lakmal and two for Angelo Mathews.
This (10/3) is India's second lowest score after the fall of three wickets, after 5/3 against South Africa in Hyderabad (2005)
Over 5 || Score 2/2 (Shreyas Iyer 0; Dinesh Karthik 0)
What a start from the Sri Lankans. Suranga Lakmal, who trouble India in the Kolkata Test, shows his class again. Gets the better of India captain Rohit Sharma. Again, umpire ingores the appeal for a caught behind, but there's 'always' a review. And Rohit gone.
Wicket: Rohit c Dickwella b Lakmal 2 (13)
That happened off the first ball of the fifth over. And Dinesh Karthik is the new man for India. This sure is one of the worst ever starts for India in an ODI match.
Over 3 || Score 2/1 (Rohit Sharma 2; Shreyas Iyer 0)
Huge blow! Angelo Mathews traps Shikhar Dhawan in front. Umpire ignores the appeal, but a confident outfit takes the review, and it's positive.
Wicket: Dhawan lbw b Mathews 0(6)
That happened off the last ball of the second over. And India are at 0. Trial by fire to debutant Shreyas Iyer.
In the next over, Rohit opens the scoring with double off the fourth ball, bowled by Suranga Lakmal.
Meanwhile, here's a brief on Shreyas Iyer for the uninitiated. He is from Mumbai, and has represented Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. He also had represented India in Under-19s.
In 46 first-class matches, the right-handed batsman has scored 3989 runs with a career-best 202*. In list A, he has 1189 runs from 33 matches, and has a career-best 140*.
